Kamal Haasan’s upcoming action drama Thug Life, directed by Mani Ratnam, is all set for a strong opening as Day 1 advance bookings reflect solid audience interest. As per latest data from Sacnilk, the movie has collected Rs 6.16 crore in all-India pre-sales, selling over 3.58 lakh tickets across 11,000 plus shows.
The Tamil 2D version has accumulated Rs 5.24 crore in advance sales from over 3 lakh tickets. Other formats like Telugu 2D have earned Rs 53.6 lakh, Hindi 2D at 25.7 lakh, and Tamil IMAX 2D around Rs 11.6 lakh. Smaller formats like Tamil 4DX and Hindi IMAX 2D have contributed modestly. The blocked seats, the cumulative booking has reportedly crossed Rs 13.8 crore.
As per the Indian Express report, Thug Life has exceeded the advance bookings of Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan II but still fall behind Kamal Haasan’s earlier hit Vikram, which had earned Rs 15 crore in pre-sales. However, given strong bookings in Tamil Nadu and interest among the Telugu-speaking regions, the film is all set for a massive opening collection.
Big opening day expected for Thug Life
As per the India Today box office analyst, the movie is expected to collect profits between Rs 30 crore to Rs 50 crore on its first day of theatre release from Tamil Nadu itself. The collaboration of Mani Ratnam’s direction, Kamal Haasan’s acting prowess, and AR Rahman’s music has created high expectations among movie lovers.
Thug Life also marks the reunion of Haasan and Ratnam after almost four decades. Despite some regional obstructions, the film is all set for high-voltage performance.
Thug Life storyline deals with the journey of a former gangster who is forced to come to the world he has left behind.
