The Taj Story Box Office Collection Day 8: Paresh Rawal has once again impressed audiences with his powerful performance in The Taj Story. The film, which released in theatres on October 31, continues to maintain a steady pace at the box office despite facing competition from new releases like Haq, starring Yami Gautam and Emraan Hashmi.
The Taj Story Box Office Collection Day 8
On its eighth day (Friday), early estimates by Sacnilk suggest that the film collected around Rs 0.90 crore, taking its total domestic collection to Rs 11.90 crore. While the pace has slowed down slightly, the film’s stable performance amid multiple new releases is commendable.
Trade experts believe that if the movie continues this momentum over the weekend, it could easily cross the Rs 15 crore mark by the end of its second week.
The Taj Story: Week 1 Box Office Collection
According to early estimates by Sacnilk, during its first week, The Taj Story showed a stable trend at the ticket counters, earning an estimated Rs 11 crore (India net) in seven days. The film opened with around Rs 1 crore, but saw growth over the weekend, collecting Rs 2 crore on Saturday and Rs 2.75 crore on Sunday.
The weekday trend was fairly consistent too, with Rs 1.15 crore on Monday, followed by Rs 1.6 crore each on Tuesday and Wednesday, and around Rs 0.9 crore on Thursday. By the end of its first week, The Taj Story had managed to bring in a total of Rs 11 crore.
The steady performance came largely due to positive word of mouth around Paresh Rawal’s acting and the film’s engaging courtroom drama.
Occupancy report: Steady audience turnout
When it comes to occupancy, The Taj Story recorded an overall 10.65 per cent Hindi occupancy on Friday, November 7. The movie did better during the evening and night shows, with audience footfall rising as the day progressed.
Morning shows recorded around 4.39 per cent occupancy, afternoon shows were at 8.10 per cent, evening shows improved to 9.52 per cent, and night shows saw the highest turnout at 20.57 per cent.
Among the cities, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad performed better compared to other regions. Chennai saw the highest occupancy at over 50 per cent, showing that the film is receiving strong word-of-mouth support in select urban centres.
The Taj Story budget and future box office estimates
Trade analysts estimate that The Taj Story was made on a budget of around Rs 25 crore. With its earnings now nearing Rs 12 crore, the film still has a way to go before it recovers its cost and enters the profit zone.
However, given the film’s strong hold and positive audience feedback, the weekend numbers could help it inch closer to the break-even point.
About The Taj Story
Directed by Tushar Amrish Goel and produced by Suresh Jha, The Taj Story follows the journey of Vishnu Das, a local guide with a deep curiosity to uncover the real history behind the Taj Mahal. What begins as a personal quest soon unfolds into a courtroom drama that challenges long-held beliefs about one of the world’s most famous monuments.
The film stars Paresh Rawal in a lead role, supported by Zakir Hussain, Amruta Khanvilkar, and Namit Das. With a runtime of 2 hours and 45 minutes, and music by Rohit Sharma, the film combines mystery, drama, and emotion.
Verdict: A slow but steady run
While The Taj Story might not be a blockbuster in terms of numbers, it is earning appreciation for its meaningful story, strong dialogues, and Paresh Rawal’s stellar performance. His screen presence remains the biggest highlight of the film.
With another weekend ahead, all eyes are now on whether The Taj Story can maintain its steady run and move closer to profitability.
