Aamir Khan’s latest film Sitaare Zameen Par had a promising start at the box office, but it looks like it’s losing momentum as it enters its fifth week in the theaters. Directed by RS Prasanna, the film has now been minting less than Rs 1 crore for three consecutive days. This raises concerns about how long it is going to stay in theatres.

As per reports by Sacnilk, the film collected approximately Rs 50 lakh on its 27th day (fourth Wednesday). This marked a steady decline from its Tuesday earnings of Rs 80 lakh. While the total gross has reached Rs 162.50 crore after 27 days, the downfall of the movie is quite noticeable.

Breaking down the box office collection

The film enjoyed a strong opening, but its earnings have consistently declined over time. Here’s a look at its weekly performance:

Week 1: Rs 88.9 crore (Hindi: Rs 88 Cr; Tamil: Rs 0.55 Cr; Telugu: Rs 0.35 Cr)

Week 2: Rs 46.5 crore (Hindi: Rs 46.24 Cr; Tamil: Rs 0.17 Cr; Telugu: Rs 0.09 Cr)

Week 3: Rs 18.95 crore (Hindi: Rs 18.88 Cr; Tamil: Rs 0.07 Cr)

Fourth Week daily earnings:

Day 22 (Friday): Rs 90 lakh

Day 23 (Saturday): Rs 2.5 crore

Day 24 (Sunday): Rs 2.85 crore

Day 25 (Monday): Rs 60 lakh

Day 26 (Tuesday): Rs 80 lakh

Day 27 (Wednesday): Rs 50 lakh (early estimates)

Despite earning a substantial total collections, this dip in its weekday figures indicates that public interest in the movie is slowing down. The film is now running in less than 300 screens across the country, Delhi-NCR being the top-performing region with 218 daily shows, followed by Mumbai (171) and Ahmedabad (141). Cities like Pune and Bengaluru have also reported relatively higher ticket sales.

The film also features Genelia D’Souza opposite Aamir Khan and also marks the debut of ten neurodivergent actors.
