Kantara Chapter 1: As the much-awaited Rishab Shetty directorial prepares for its theatrical release in October, Kantara A Legend: Chapter 1 has already created waves in the industry. The Kantara prequel has reportedly crossed its making budget, a month before it hits the big screens after signing an OTT deal with Amazon Prime Video.
With just three promotional posters out, fans are already eagerly waiting to watch their newest Kannada-origin film. Set to become the second-highest-grossing film of the industry, it only stands behind the Indian blockbuster, KGF 2.
The Pinkvilla report revealed that Amazon Prime Video bagged the post-theatrical streaming rights of Kantara A Legend- Chapter 1 for a sum of Rs 125 crore. Currently, the Rishab Shetty directorial is in its post-production stage, and 20 VFX studios from across the world to bringing the newest in the Kantara series to life.
Kantara Chapter 1: Release date and more details
Kantara A Legend: Chapter 1 is set to release in theatres on October 2, with a pan-India release on a national holiday. Expecting fans in large numbers, this Kannada film aims to deliver another blockbuster under Rishab Shetty’s name. The trailer for Kantara Chapter 1 will be available on September 20.
Starring Jayaram, Rukmini Vasanth, Rishab Shetty, and Gulshan Devaiah, the film also has a song sung by globally acclaimed Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh. Based on the explorations of Kaadubettu Shiva during the Kadamba dynasty era, it delves into the untamed wilderness and forgotten lore surrounding his past, as per the IMDb website.
This Hombale Film has also locked several distribution deals with the biggest giants in the industry, reported Sacnilk. The industry tracker revealed that in Kerala, this Rishab Shetty directorial will be distributed by Prithviraj Sukumaran’s Prithviraj Productions. In North India and Nepal, AA Films will headline the duty, which took over the Hindi-dubbed KGF distribution.
For its overseas release, Phars Film, LWE, DreamZ Entertainment, Prathyangira Cinemas, Dream Screens International will distribute the film in the UK, North America, Australia, and New Zealand. Expectations are sky-high after the fans await the Kantara prequel explores the mythical theme and ancestral conflict.
