Mirai Box Office Collection Day 1: The much-awaited Telugu mythical fantasy drama, Mirai had a record-breaking opening day. Hitting the big screens on Friday, September 12, the Mirai box office collection crossed the Rs 10 crore mark with ease. The Teja Sajja starrer made huge waves at the big screen and broke three records in one day.
A Karthik Gattamneni and Anil Anand directorial, Mirai stars Manoj Manchu, Ritika Nayak, Shriya Saran, Jagapathi Babu, and Jayaram. Set in the era of Emperor Ashoka, with mythological ties to Lord Ram, Mirai now ranks among the top 10 opening day earnings for Telugu films in 2025.
Mirai Box Office Day 1: Houseful shows in Telangana
With a star-studded cast and a powerful plot, Mirai beat Sajja’s previous record of HanuMan. Born in the same genre, the film grossed Rs 8 crore on its opening day. Mirai had an overall occupancy of more than 68% with record-breaking morning show numbers which came at par with Ram Charan’s ‘Game Changer’.
With 100% occupancy in Mahbubnagar, a city in Telangana, Mirai performed nearly as good in Vishakhapatnam too with 91.25% occupancy across 100 screens. With the maximum shows scheduled for Hyderabad, the Teja Sajja starrer performed with occupancy rates exceeding 85%. Similarly, in Kakinada and Guntur, the Mirai performed well across the 74 screenings showing Mirai so far.
This much-anticipated film also entered the top 10 Telugu openers, nudging ‘Mad Square’ out of the list. The Ram Charan starrer remains on top with a Rs 54 crore opening day collection. Ranking 8 on the list, Mirai ranks above Thandel and Kanappa, after collecting Rs 12 crore on Day 1.
Mirai movie reviews: Internet hails VFX
Praising the visual effects, edge-of-the-seat plot, and the powerful climax, netzines online are all praises for the film. “World-building & detailing of the ‘Mirai’ universe feels grand & immersive. VFX is the true hero train fight,” read a review on X (formerly Twitter).
Even praising the villain arc, film critic Sumit Kadel praised Manchu Manoj for his performance. “The way Manchu Manoj has portrayed his character with a unique blend of attitude, swag, and menace is truly commendable. It’s one of the best villain acts I have seen in a superhero-type film in recent years,” he remarked.
With the visuals stealing the spotlight, a social media review read, “from sprawling battle sequences to mesmerizing landscapes and seamless CGI integration, the film is a visual feast.”
