The conversation around motherhood and career took a fresh turn recently when actor Gauahar Khan shared her deeply personal journey of becoming a mother at 39. In a candid chat with Debina Bonnerjee on her podcast, the Fauji 2 actor revealed that she is pregnant with her second child and reflected on the emotional and physical toll of losing her first pregnancy to a miscarriage.

Gauahar disclosed that this is her third pregnancy, and although she feels grateful to be expecting again, the road to this moment has been anything but easy. “I was 36 when I got married and we knew we had to try for a child soon. I had a miscarriage, and it took me 1 to 1.5 years to mentally prepare myself to try again,” she said. Her first successful pregnancy led to the birth of her son Zehaan, but given her age, she added, “If I wanted another child, it was now or never.”

Balancing Action Roles While Pregnant

Despite the challenges, Gauahar said she never paused her professional commitments. “I was working throughout my first pregnancy and even in the early months of this one. During the finale of Fauji 2, I was doing action scenes, including blasting bombs in Pune,” she shared. She credited her action directors for being considerate and adapting scenes to ensure her safety without compromising on performance.

Her work ethic has often led her to action-packed roles even during delicate times. Recalling her miscarriage, Gauahar revealed, “While shooting for Shiksha Mandal, I was pregnant with my first child. I was doing horse riding and heavy scenes. A month later, I lost the baby.”

Motherhood at 39: ‘It’s Now or Never’

The actor described how the loss changed her perspective, making her more determined yet cautious. “It took me time to heal emotionally, and I now value every moment of motherhood,” she said. Gauahar’s story sheds light on the resilience of working mothers and the need for supportive environments — especially in industries where schedules are often unrelenting.
