Bollywood actor Soha Ali Khan has recently joined the Lenskart IPO bandwagon. After opening its much-awaited Rs 7278 crore initial public offering on October 31, it has been gaining a lot of attention. As an extension of her podcast with ace investor Radhika Gupta and investment-banker-turned-CEO Tejal Bajla, Soha Ali Khan took to Instagram and broke down investing in IPOs for her audience.

A graduate from the London School of Economics, she uploaded a short video on Instagram about financial literacy. A revolutionary conversation among the guests, the podcast explored several aspects of investing and how female investors fit in this conventionally male-dominated space. Breaking the myths, Khan captioned her video, “Financial literacy isn’t just about saving or investing, it’s about making informed choices when opportunities like these arise.”

Soha Ali Khan on Lenskart IPO

Soha Ali Khan explained to her listeners, “An IPO or initial public offering is when a private company sells its shares to the public for the first time. Basically, it’s saying, ‘Hey, now you can own a tiny piece of our company.’ In the case of this company, you can buy a share and not just their glasses.”

Supporting investing in the eyewear brand, Khan listed both sides of making the financial commitment. “It is backed by investors, but what’s good about it?” She then added, “It’s a strong brand, it’s a growing business, and it’s a chance to be an early part of a well-known Indian company’s story.”

On the other hand, “The IPO is expensive compared to the current profits. Some of the money is going to the existing investors who are looking to cash out. Like any investment, it is not a guaranteed win. Is it good or bad? That really depends on you. If you believe in the brand long term, then great. But if you’re hoping to get rich by next Friday, then maybe have another think,” Soha added.

Soha’s chat with Radhika Gupta

Speaking to the financial superwomen, Soha Ali Khan talked about everything from gendered financing to taking control of one’s money as a woman. During her podcast, ‘All About Her’, which has discussed everything from skincare routines to digital dependence, they dispel the myth of financial planning, and it is one of the most important discussions between a couple.

While Radhika Gupta advised women to start young, during their 30s, Bajla hoped more women would take over the wheel from the biggest HNI families, moving on from the conventions against financial decisions.
