A Google doodle celebrating Hedy Lamarr’s 101 birth anniversary was unveiled today by the search engine major today – she died at 86 in the year 2000.
Google doodle depicts some important moments from the life of the Hedy Lamar, Austrian actress and inventor.
It starts with the portrait of Hedy Lamarr’s face, rolls on to her film career (she has acted alongside iconic actors Clark Gable, Spencer Tracy and Jimmy Stewart), which is then followed by her inventions and awards.
Born in 1914 in Austria, Hedy Lamarr is remembered for her beauty on the silver screen and for inventing a weapons communication system to fight Germany during World War II that was a precursor to wireless technologies, including Bluetooth and Wi-Fi – she was married to an arms merchant.
Among the films she acted in is ‘The Heavenly Body’ and ‘Samson and Delilah’.
