Kangana starrer Emergency witnessed a decline in box office collections during the weekdays, despite a decent opening over the weekend. On Day 7 (Thursday), the box office collection dropped to Rs 0.06 crore, according to the latest data. In total, the film’s India net collection for the first five days stands at Rs 13.33 crore so far.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, on Day 1 (1st Friday), the film opened with Rs 2.5 crore, followed by a significant 44 percent increase on Day 2 (1st Saturday) with Rs 3.6 crore. Day 3 (1st Sunday) saw a smaller rise of 18.06 percent, reaching Rs 4.25 crore.

However, the momentum dropped drastically on Day 4 (1st Monday), with a 75.29 percent decrease, bringing in only Rs 1.05 crore. The decline continued in the following days, with Day 5 (1st Tuesday) at Rs 1 crore (down 4.76 percent) and Day 6 (1st Wednesday) at Rs 0.87 crore (down 13 percent).

As the title suggests, Emergency is a biographical political drama that delves into key events between 1975 and 1977 during the post-Independence era. The film primarily focuses on the nationwide Emergency declared by former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. However, it is not a biopic of the former PM, but instead explores the significant political decisions that defined her time as Prime Minister.

Anupam Kher stars as Jayaprakash Narayan, the influential political leader and activist who opposed the Emergency. Shreyas Talpade plays Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the co-founder of the BJP and senior leader. Mahima Chaudhry portrays Pupul Jayakar, Indira Gandhi’s close confidante and biographer. Milind Soman takes on the role of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, India’s first Field Marshal. Vishak Nair plays Sanjay Gandhi, Indira Gandhi’s younger son.

The late Satish Kaushik portrays Jagjivan Ram, the senior Indian politician and former Deputy Prime Minister. Scott Alexander Young plays Richard Nixon, the 37th President of the United States. Ashok Chhabra portrays Morarji Desai, the Indian political leader who succeeded Indira Gandhi as Prime Minister. Adhir Bhat takes on the role of Feroze Gandhi, Indira Gandhi’s husband, while Kateryna Grabovska plays Sonia Gandhi, Indira’s daughter-in-law.
