Pradeep Ranganathan-starrer Dude directed by Keerthiswaran was released on October 17 2025 and has had a successful opening at the Box Office despite the festive season. The Tamil flick is Keerthiswaran’s directorial venture and also features Mamitha Maiju as the female protagonist.

The sparkling chemistry between the lead characters has been widely praised by movie goers even with criticisms about plot. Netizens have also raved about standout moments and the “twist” that plays out later in the movie. It has been described as a Gen Z romcom and despite mixed reviews from people, it has performed decently so far earning Rs 9.75 crores on Day 1 of its release.

Dude Box Office performance on day 3

On day 3 of it’s performance at the Box Office, the numbers are looking even better than the previous days. As per industry tracker Sacnilk, it has managed to earn Rs 36.25 crores domestically and Rs 15.75 crores overseas, bringing total collections to 52 crores and counting.

Considering the fact that it was made on a budget of Rs 30 crores, it has already managed to out-earn it’s budget on day 3 of release and there are many days left of it’s theatrical run. This truly impressive run makes it Pradeep Ranganathan’s highest earning feature of his career.

Theatre occupancy was impressive

Dude had major theatre presence in the Southern Indian states, with the highest number of screenings in Chennai with 580 shows, followed by Bengaluru with 243 shows, Coimbatore with 184 shows and Madurai with 104 shows. As expected, the audience was majorly Tamil with 55.20% presence as of Sunday October 19, though Telegu movie-goers followed with a 37.03% overall attendance.

As per Sacnilk, Chennai saw the majority of the footfall with an average of 74.50% occupancy which is quite impressive, followed by a 72.50% occupancy in Vellore, 65.25% in Trichy and 63.50% in Pondicherry. Afternoon shows were heavily booked out versus morning or night shows.

The Mythri Movie Makers production is overall faring quite well at the Box Office and shows a trend of film afficionados craving light-hearted romantic comedies for a change. While heavy hitters like Kantara and Lokah may break all box office records, movies like Dude remind us that small productions can be equally entertaining and we need to do our part in supporting them.
