HYBE’s plan to set up an office in Mumbai has ignited excitement among Indian K-pop fans, fuelling hopes for live concerts and stronger industry collaborations. For many, this could pave the way for a long-awaited BTS concert in India. It especially marks a big moment for the Desi K-pop community and its growing cultural presence.

HYBE, the powerhouse behind K-pop icons like BTS, TXT, and SEVENTEEN, is set to expand its operations in India. The new local branch will work to extend the global influence of Korean music and entertainment.  The company plans to launch its Indian subsidiary in the latter half of 2025!

‘HYBE India’ chapter confirmed

On June 30, the multinational organisation revealed its plans to launch a subsidiary in India. According to K-Media, the company stated, “We are currently carrying out local market research and managing the practical steps needed to establish the corporation, with the aim of launching around September or October.”

The move to open an Indian branch comes from Chairman Bang Si Hyuk’s commitment to bring the K-pop production model to India’s vast market of 1.4 billion people. Chairman Bang is directly leading the “Multi-home, Multi-genre” strategy, which focuses on capturing key positions in local music markets by embracing and reflecting each region’s unique culture and identity.

The ‘Multi-home, Multi-genre’ strategy is already delivering results in mainstream markets that HYBE entered ahead of India. Its biggest success so far has been in the United States, where HYBE America’s girl group Catseye landed on Billboard’s coveted ‘Hot 100’ chart in under a year since their debut.

Meanwhile, HYBE Latin America—set up in the latter half of 2023 to expand in South America—is also gaining traction, with two major artist discovery initiatives currently underway in the region.

A representative of HYBE stated, “The strategy of establishing footholds in major global music markets and applying this methodology is already producing results. It is predicted that if this trend continues, the landscape of the global music industry—currently dominated by the so-called global ‘Big Three’ businesses—will undergo a significant transformation.”
