Bollywood is mourning the loss of one of its most beloved comic actors Satish Shah. Known for his impeccable comic timing and versatility, Satish Shah passed away at the age of 74 due to kidney failure. The sad news was confirmed by his close friend and filmmaker Ashoke Pandit, who posted a heartfelt message on Instagram on Saturday afternoon.

Sharing a picture of Satish Shah along with a video message, Pandit wrote, “Sad and shocked to inform you that our dear friend and a great actor Satish Shah has expired few hours ago due to kidney failure. He was rushed to Hinduja Hospital where he breathed his last. A great loss to our industry. Om Shanti.”

Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi and Television breakthrough

Satish Shah was born in 1951 into a Gujarati family in what was then Bombay State. He started acting in the 1970s with small roles in films, but it was television that made him a household name. In 1984, he became famous for the sitcom Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, where he amazed audiences by playing 55 different characters.

In the 1990s, he appeared in shows like Filmi Chakkar and Ghar Jamai, but one of his most loved roles came later as Indravadan Sarabhai in the cult hit Sarabhai vs Sarabhai (2004-2006). His quirky, funny portrayal of the family patriarch is still remembered and adored by fans even today.

Satish Shah made his film debut in 1970 with a small role in Bhagwan Parshuram, but it was over a decade later that he gained attention with films like Umrao Jaan and Albert Pinto Ko Gussa Kyun Aata Hai.
