Malayalam actor Dileep‘s Bha Bha Ba has released on Thursday, December 18, amid protests over his acquittal in the actress assault case. The mimicry-artist turned actor has established himself in the Malayalam industry over decades, and is best known for his comedy roles. He is also the winner of Kerala State Film Award for Best Actor for Vellaripravinte Changathi.

Meanwhile, Bha Bha Ba, acronym for BHAyam BHAkthi BAhumanam, is getting mixed reviews with people loving the return of Dileep the entertainer, but aren’t happy with a slightly stretched second half.

Directed by Dhananjay Shankar, Bha Bha Ba also stars Mohanlal in a cameo role and his brief appearance wherein he plays a die-hard fan of Thalapathy Vijay has been winning hearts. The film also stars Vineeth Sreenivasan, Dhyan Sreenivasan, Sandy, Balu Varghese, Baiju Santhosh, Saranya Ponvannan, Sidharth Bharathan, and Redin Kingsley in key roles.

Thalapathy Vijay reference adds to cheer

Mohanlal’s cameo has been termed whistle-worthy with the actor recreating Vijay’s popular pose from Ghilli, with his hands crossed over his head.

In another clip from the movie, a signboard pointing to a colony named after Thalapathy is show. These brief references have become a huge talking point among netizens.

“Just an appreciation post for #Mohanlal. Amazing to see him play a die-hard fan of Thalapathy. Actor Vijay with zero ego. The Ghilli Gypsy narration was a delight, and his perfect imitation of Vijay’s style and gestures in Bha Bha Ba was totally unexpected and spot on!” a user wrote.

No logic, only entertainment, say fans

“Spoof comedy. No logic, only madness. Entertainer Dileep is back. Interval block and Lalettan’s cameo are blast. No heroine,” says an X user, who also pointed towards presence of “cringe scenes.”

Another social media user calls the film ‘99% no logical madness’ but an entertainer, giving a full rating to Dileep and Mohanlal energy.

Another user expressed disappointment saying the only effort came from Mohanlal. “Apart from few sequences, the whole movie was a disappointment for me,” the user added.

Loud and eccentric

Not all movie-watchers are loving the experts as some find the narrative ‘overloaded with references and spoofing.’

“GBU of Mollywood targeted at the same set of audience. Head ache guaranteed for others. Lal portion works in the favour. He is the cheat code for the director,” the review read.
