Baahubali: The Epic Box Office Collection Day 3: SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Epic has roared at the box office, setting a new benchmark for re-released films. The remastered version of the iconic franchise opened to a powerful start, collecting an estimated Rs 22.56 crore in its opening weekend, according to trade tracker Sacnilk.

The figure slightly surpasses the Hindi version of Baahubali: The Beginning, which had earned Rs 22.35 crore during its opening weekend in 2015. Despite being a re-release, the film has managed to draw in massive crowds, proving the timeless appeal of Rajamouli’s magnum opus.

Released in theatres on October 31, Baahubali: The Epic began its theatrical journey with Rs 9.65 crore nett on the first day, which included Rs 1.15 crore from special premiere shows held before the official release. Saturday saw a slight dip with earnings of Rs 7.3 crore nett, while Sunday collections dropped further to Rs 4.46 crore.

Although the day-wise numbers showed a decline, the overall weekend total remained impressive at Rs 22.56 crore. Trade experts say this performance is remarkable for a remastered release, given that the film’s story and visuals are already well-known to audiences.

On Sunday, the film recorded an average occupancy rate of 50.5 per cent across theatres in India. Analysts note that the franchise continues to enjoy strong recall value, driven by its grandeur, visual effects, and the emotional depth of its storytelling.

What’s new in ‘Baahubali: The Epic’

Baahubali: The Epic is a remastered and condensed version that merges Baahubali: The Beginning (2015) and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (2017) into one continuous narrative. While the original two parts had a combined runtime of over five hours, this version has been trimmed to 3 hours and 44 minutes for a smoother theatrical experience.

The re-edited cut has enhanced visuals and sound, giving audiences a chance to relive the epic story on the big screen in high definition. Fans have praised the swift transition between the two films, which makes it feel like a single, cohesive epic.

The film stars Prabhas, Rana Daggubati, Anushka Shetty, Tamannaah Bhatia, Ramya Krishnan, Sathyaraj, and Nassar. 

The story follows Shivudu (Prabhas), a young man who embarks on a journey of self-discovery, only to uncover his royal heritage as Amarendra Baahubali. The film builds toward an epic confrontation with Bhallaladeva (Rana Daggubati), a battle that defined Indian cinema’s modern blockbuster era.

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, released in 2017, remains the third-highest-grossing Indian film of all time, after Dangal and Pushpa 2: The Rule.
