Akshay Kumar starrer ‘Baby’ box office collections have failed to reach Rs 100 crore mark in Week 1 in spite of having an extended four-day weekend after its release. As expected, the movie has done good business but could have done better with the kind of all around reviews it has received.
With Rs 63.82 crore from the opening week, ‘Baby’ looks to cross the lifetime box office collections of 2014 release ‘Entertainment’, which made Rs 72.02 crore. But it remains to be seen whether the movie can become the first film to enter the Rs 100 core club in 2015 and mint more money than Akshay’s last year release ‘Holiday – A Soldier Is Never Off Duty’ (Rs 112.45 crore).

After opening with Rs 9.3 crore, ‘Baby’ managed to generate maximum of Rs 15.6 crore on Sunday and Rs 14.90 crore on Monday (Republic Day), to cross the Rs 50 crore mark in four days. However, with the release of ‘Khamoshiyan’ and ‘Khamoshiyan’ this Friday, it seems unlikely that the Akshay Kumar starrer will be able to replicate opening weekend figures in the second weekend.

Neeraj Pandey-directed ‘Baby’ had strong showing in Mumbai, Delhi and Pune in the first few days and small towns also recorded good figures.
One of Akshay Kumar’s most appreciated movies, ‘Baby’ is the ninth biggest opening day grosser for the actor with Rs 9.3 crore in a list topped by his 2012 release ‘Rowdy Rathore’ (Rs 15.10 crore).

Unfortunately, the movie has failed to make its mark on the overseas market, generating an unimpressive Rs 8.57 crore in the first 7 days. The majority of the business has come from the USA/Canada region with Rs 2.66 crore.
