Aasif Sheikh, known for his role in the popular sitcom Bhabi Ji Ghar Par Hai, recently shared a humorous anecdote involving Bollywood superstar Salman Khan from their early days in the industry. During an interview with Lallantop, Aasif recounted an incident that took place while they were shooting for the 1998 film Bandhan.
According to Aasif, Salman was driving his Esteem and decided to take a rather unconventional route back to the shooting location by driving on the footpath. Despite Aasif’s concerns about the legality of their actions, Salman appeared unfazed. “We were young then, and Salman had an Esteem at that time. He made me sit next to him and started driving everywhere on the footpath and on the road. I said, ‘Salman, pakde jayenge (we will get caught).’ He replied, ‘Pakde jayenge toh yaar Salman Khan hain ghabrao mat. (Even if we get caught, don’t worry, Salman Khan is with you),” Aasif recalled.
However, their carefree attitude took a turn when a traffic police officer stopped them. To Aasif’s surprise, the officer failed to recognize the Bollywood star. “He rolled down the window, and the traffic police actually did not recognize him. Salman was in disbelief and said, ‘Isne toh pehchana nahi. Maine kaha shirt utaar shayad pehchan le. (He said he didn’t recognize me. I said, ‘Take off your shirt; he might recognize you then),’” Aasif laughed.
