Aamir Khan has recorded a rap version of the Dangal song Dhakkad. It was 18 years ago in Ghulam that we first fell in love with Aamir’s singing voice when he uttered, “Ae, kya bolti tu?” for the song Aati kya khandala back in 1998. Now the star has returned to the singer’s studio for Dhakkad’s remix. The original version of the song was sung by Raaftar. While we’re not sure how a rap version of Dhakkad will sound, the video will be aired on December 18 on Zee TV during the Lux Golden Rose Awards.

This year’s host Arjun Kapoor will unveil the video. According to reports in Zee News, Aamir will be dressed like a rapper and will use the song to introduce his Dangal daughters Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra. Aamir wanted to do something special to laud the women of India and decided to perform his own version of the song.

Releasing on December 23, Dangal sees Aamir in the role of real-life wrestler Mahavir Singh Phogat and his decision to go against society’s norms and teach his daughter Geeta and Babita wrestling. From there, the film follows Geeta’s journey from the backwaters of Haryana to Commonwealth Games fame. So far, every song the Dangal team has released has received a positive response. Haanikarak Bapu made us nostalgic of our childhood, while Dhakkad gets a listener ready to take on any struggle. Gilheriyaan, which focused more on Geeta’s character, departed from the sports theme of the previous two songs and instead showed the softer aspects of the movie. So now, we can’t wait to see Aamir’s new version of the song. Will it be better than Raaftar’s original and can Mr Perfectionist nail it as a rapper too?
