In Chennai, Chenagalpattu, Thiruvallur, and Kancheepuram districts, the half-yearly exams have been postponed and can be conducted later as per the situation and provide different question papers to students who will appear for the exam, says reports.

Exams were initially set for December 7 and 8 which have been rescheduled to take place on December 14 and 20, according to news reports.

The language papers scheduled for class 12 will be conducted on December 14 while the English exam is now re-scheduled to take place on December 20, 2023.

Tamil Nadu recently faced the impact of Cyclone Michaung, resulting in floods and widespread waterlogging. The districts most severely affected by the cyclone include Chennai, Tiruvallur, Chengalpet, and Kancheepuram. The aftermath of the cyclone has led to severe rainfall and subsequent flooding, prompting the closure of schools in these districts for the past few days to ensure the safety of students and staff.

Meanwhile, Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister, MK Stalin, has requested an interim relief of Rs 5,060 crore from the Centre to address the damage caused by the cyclone. The northern districts, including Chennai, Tiruvallur, Kancheepuram, and Chengalpet, have been significantly affected by the cyclone’s impact.

Stalin highlighted the ongoing challenges caused by the floodwaters in Chennai’s suburbs. He emphasized efforts to provide essential supplies like food and milk to affected individuals, expressing hope for improvement in the situation soon, as mentioned in his post on an unspecified platform.

The school board has scheduled half-yearly exams for Classes 6 to 11, which have not been postponed at present. The education department intends to provide updates regarding these exams after assessing the state’s situation.
