The Karnataka government has made an official announcement regarding the establishment of a 15-member commission with the primary task of developing a fresh education policy for the state. Complementing this initiative, an advisory board has also been put in place to offer valuable insights and guidance. The purpose of this committee is to conduct a thorough examination of the education landscape in Karnataka, encompassing both the school and higher education sectors, according to an official statement. 

The Commission has been set up with the objective of proposing policies aimed at increasing school and higher education enrollment rates, enhancing the quality of education, ensuring equal access to quality education for all individuals and effectively achieving the core goals of education. These objectives include imparting scientific knowledge to students, instilling democratic values, providing skill and professional education to enhance employability, and delivering moral education to nurture good citizenship among students, the statement mentioned.

“The government is pleased to announce its approval for the establishment of the State Education Policy Commission. This commission is tasked with preparing the draft of the Karnataka State Education Policy, and it will be under the leadership of Professor Sukhdev Thorat, a distinguished figure in the fields of education, economics, professorship, writing and a former chairman of UGC New Delhi, the statement added.
