Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Wednesday launched a sharp attack against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s allegations of ‘dynasty politics’, stating that the ruling dispensation in the state is indeed a ‘family rule’, but one that strives for the welfare of every family.

“Some call us (DMK) a family rule. Yes, this is a family rule! A family that gives a helping hand to every family of Tamil Nadu,” Stalin said responding to PM Modi’s criticism of Tamil Nadu’s ruling party during his recent visit, as PTI reported.

Stalin also challenged the Prime Minister’s claim that central funds were directly benefiting the people of the state. He specifically highlighted that individuals affected by floods in Tamil Nadu had not received any financial assistance from the Centre.

Over the past few days, Modi has been critical of the DMK, Congress, and other political entities, expressing concern over the prevalence of political dynasties from “Jammu and Kashmir to Tamil Nadu”, labelling it as a dangerous trend.

In response to Modi’s contention that the Centre has been directly depositing money to scheme beneficiaries, Stalin contested this, seeking clarification on the actual recipients of such funds.

“People of eight districts (including Chennai and Thoothukudi) bore the brunt of two natural disasters (floods). We had sought Rs 37,000 crore funds (as relief from the Centre). Did PM allocate at least Re 1 to aid the people of Tamil Nadu?” the CM asked.

Contrary to Modi’s claim, Stalin highlighted that the Tamil Nadu government expended Rs 3,406 crore from the State Disaster Relief Fund and other state funds to assist the affected populace, underscoring his administration’s commitment to public welfare.

Announcing the launch of the Tamil Nadu government’s ‘Neengal Nalamaa’ (Are you doing well) initiative, he stated that it serves as proof that his administration has a humane, compassionate approach to addressing people’s welfare.

He inaugurated a website for this purpose, which facilitates virtual interactions between the chief minister, senior officials, and the public regarding the implementation of public welfare schemes of the government.

It gives individuals the facility to register their feedback on the website itself. At the launch of the portal, Stalin even interacted with some of the beneficiaries of state government schemes.
