Sandeep Dikshit, Congress candidate for the New Delhi assembly seat, has challenged AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal to an open debate ahead of the Delhi Elections that are to be held on February 5. Dikshit, who is contesting directly against Kejriwal, took aim at the AAP leader’s claims regarding the progress in Delhi and raised doubts about the credibility of his statements.
Speaking to the media, Dikshit on Friday questioned what Kejriwal had studied at IIT. He remarked that as an engineer, Kejriwal was making absurd remarks that even a fifth or sixth-grade student wouldn’t make. He further criticised Kejriwal’s academic integrity, suggesting that he may have passed his exams through dishonesty. He advised Kejriwal to revisit his engineering textbooks to understand the extent of his falsehoods.
Dikshit also accused both the BJP and AAP of distributing money to sway voters. “Both BJP and AAP are distributing cash to get votes, I want to ask them if they are in politics or the market?” he questioned. Addressing the media, Dikshit responded to Kejriwal’s claims of significant accomplishments by asserting, “He said that I have done so much work; I have just said that whatever you say, say it with record. Today, at 3 pm it will be clear that either Congress or AAP is speaking the truth”
Ahead of the upcoming elections, Sandeep Dikshit has been questioning Arvind Kejriwal’s claims about his tenure as Delhi’s chief minister and as the MLA from New Delhi. In response, Dikshit extended an invitation to Kejriwal for an open public debate at Jantar Mantar on Friday, January 31, from 2 pm to 3 pm. He urged Kejriwal to come prepared with verifiable facts to back up his statements.
Dikshit emphasised that the debate should rely on solid data, stressing, that the only condition for this debate is that every point raised, and every counterpoint made, must be supported by credible, factual information, not baseless claims. With the Delhi Assembly elections set for February 5, the results will be out on February 8.
