The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that a new western disturbance will likely impact the Western Himalayan region and adjacent plains from 8 December 2024. These weather conditions are predicted to have moderate rain and snowfall over the West Himalayan region. Moreover, Punjab, Chandigarh, and Haryana are forecast to have light isolated showers from 8 December to 9 December.

At lower atmospheric levels, a cyclonic circulation has formed over the equatorial Indian Ocean and adjacent southeast Bay of Bengal. A low-pressure area is also expected to form over the central parts of the south Bay of Bengal today (7 December). This weather condition is forecast to make advancement through the southwest Bay of Bengal near the Sri Lanka- Tamil Nadu coast by 12 December.

Heavy rainfall prediction

The Met Department has warned that there will be heavy spells over Puducherry, coastal Tamil Nadu, and Kariakal on 11 December and 12 December. Similar weather patterns are likely to prevail over Yanam, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, and Rayalaseema on 12 December.

Dense fog warning

The northeast region may witness dense fog in Nagaland, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Tripura, Assam, and Manipur till December 9. The northern regions like Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Punjab might have it from December 7 to December 10. Additionally, Bihar, Sikkim, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal are expected to have it from December 8 to 10 December. Himachal Pradesh will get it during early morning time from December 10 to December 11.

IMD Warning for cold wave condition

According to the latest notification from the weather department, isolated areas in North Rajasthan are projected to experience cold wave conditions from December 10 to 12 December.

Weather Update for Delhi-NCR

The Delhi-NCR region is forecast to have a clear sky on Saturday, wind is expected to flow from the northwest region with a speed of 4kmph in the morning. Presence of fog and smog is likely to be there during the morning time and mist and smog may also be there during the evening and night time.
