Mainly dry weather over most parts of the country will prevail over the next 5 days except the western Himalayan region, where isolated to scattered rainfall and snowfall are predicted today.
Under the influence of a western disturbance, light to moderate rainfall and snowfall are very likely over Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand today.
Further, a fresh western disturbance is also likely to affect the western Himalayan region from the night of March 10, 2024. It will lead to fresh spells of rain and snowfall in the hilly areas till March 12.
Rainfall forecast
A cyclonic circulation lies over south Odisha in lower tropospheric levels. Under its influence, isolated rainfall is likely over Odisha, sub-Himalayan West Bengal, and Sikkim till March 8.
The eastward movement of the current western disturbance would result in rainy conditions over Arunachal Pradesh during the next 2 days.
Delhi experiences chilly mornings in March
People in Delhi witnessed chilly weather conditions on Wednesday morning as the city recorded a minimum temperature of 9 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal.
The national capital registered a minimum temperature of 9 degrees Celsius on Tuesday as well while on Monday, the minimum temperature was recorded at 9.5 degrees Celsius.
As per IMD, the minimum temperature has been consistently settling at 9 degrees Celsius for the past three days in the first week of March.
Meanwhile, the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi continued to remain in the “moderate” category with a reading of 120 at 9 am.
