The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced that the intense heatwave conditions are expected to begin easing from May 30. Regions including Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, and Rajasthan are likely to experience relief from the severe heat.
Heatwave Conditions:
In its release, IMD has issued red alerts for Delhi, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, West Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. Heatwave to severe heat wave conditions are very likely to continue in many parts of Rajasthan, in some areas of Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and in isolated parts of Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh on May 29. It has also indicated that a gradual reduction is expected after that. The severe heatwave conditions across Northwest and Central India are anticipated to diminish gradually from May 30.
Delhi Weather Update:
National Capital will experience heatwave conditions in several areas along with strong surface winds. The maximum temperature will be 46 degrees Celsius and the minimum 26.6 degrees Celsius.
Monsoon Onset:
The IMD has mentioned in its latest report that the Southwest Monsoon has further extended into some places of the Maldives and South Arabian Sea. This condition will become favorable for Southwest Monsoon over Kerala in the upcoming 3-4 days.
Heavy Rainfall predictions for Northeastern states:
As per IMD release, over the next week, areas such as Arunachal Pradesh, Assam and Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura, and Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim are likely to experience fairly widespread to moderate rainfall, along with thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds.
The Met Department has also predicted that cyclonic circulation is present over South Tamil Nadu and adjoining areas at middle tropospheric levels. As a result, isolated very heavy rainfall is likely to occur in Kerala and Mahe on May 29 and 30.
