The India Meteorological Department has warned that the depression is currently positioned over the East-Central Bay of Bengal and is likely to advance towards west-northwest intensifying into a cyclonic storm on 23 October in the same region. A yellow alert has been issued for heavy rainfall in Odisha, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Kerala, Karnataka, Gangetic West Bengal, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura.

Cyclone Dana Update

The cyclonic storm Dana is expected to cross the Odisha-West Bengal coasts in the early morning of October 25 with a wind speed of 100-110 kmph gusting to 120 kmph. said that the entire eastern coast from Puri in Odisha and Sagar Island West Bengal coast is expected to be impacted by the cyclone, according to Odisha’s IMD DG Mrutunjay Mohapatra. As per the official statement, more than 10 lakh people from risk-prone villages have shifted to relief camps. The governments of Odisha and West Bengal are on high alert and have already started to evacuate the people. Schools and colleges have also been announced to be closed in the vulnerable areas of both states.

Weather Forecast for Eastern India

The IMD has predicted that Odisha will receive heavy showers on 23 October to 26 October. Gangetic West Bengal is likely to experience light rains for the same period, heavy rainfall will be prevalent on 24 October and 25 October. Isolated heavy downpours may likely occur on 24 October and heavy rains on 25 October

Southern India weather update

For the next three days, light to average rainfall will likely take place over Tamil Nadu, Mahe, Kerala, Puducherry, Karaikal, and Karnataka. Isolated intense rainfall is also forecast for all these regions for today. Moreover, Yanam and Coastal Andhra Pradesh might get heavy precipitation on 25 October.

Rainfall prediction for Western Region

The Met Department has alerted that there is a possibility of light downpours along with thunderstorms over Goa, Konkan, and Madhya Maharashtra for a couple of days.

Rainfall Warning for Northeast

Showers with low intensity accompanied by isolated thunderstorms are likely to be experienced in Tripura, Meghalaya, Manipur, Assam, Mizoram, and Nagaland for the next four days. Intense rains might happen in Arunachal Pradesh on 23 October and 25 October.
