Vrindavan’s famous Banke Bihari Mandir will soon implement a ban on mobile phones inside the temple after a successful testing of the trail ban which ended on Wednesday, October 18. The temple believes that phones should not come in between the devotion of devotees.
The trial took place on Wednesday with the cooperation of PSA Digital India Limited of Rajasthan’s Kota under which the devotees were asked to keep their phone at the entry of gate 3 inside a pouch locked with RFID system.
When the devotees left through Exit Gates No. 4 and 1, the pouch’s lock was unlocked and the mobile phones were given back to them. As a result, using cellphones inside of the shrine will be prohibited. Additionally, there is a QR code for internal counting on the pouch. The number of times a bag has been utilized will be revealed by this.
According to temple authorities, mobile accessibility has increased with time, causing several people to shoot and capture events on their phone without permission. The behavior was causing disturbance to other devotees and interfering in their prayers. Temple Manager Munish Sharma took out the trial and announced its success.
In recent instances, various temple authorities are deciding to put a ban on mobile phones because of the distractions that it is causing to devotees, while popular temples like Kedarnath has already banned photography and videography through phones as per the announcement by the Shri Badrinath-Kedarnath Temple Committee in July 2023.
