Prime Minister Narendra Modi has, for the fifth time in a row, been ranked the “world’s most popular democratic leader”, securing a 75% approval rating, by US-based firm Morning Consult. The latest Global Leader Approval Ratings survey, conducted between July 4 and 10, tracks the approval of democratic world leaders through rolling seven-day averages.

Modi topped the list ahead of newly elected South Korean President Lee Jae Myung, who received 59% support. According to Morning Consult, three out of four Indians surveyed expressed satisfaction with Modi’s leadership, while 18% disapproved and 7% remained undecided.

US President Donald Trump, who returned to the White House in 2024, ranked eighth with a 44% approval rating. Trump’s relatively lower score is reportedly due to ongoing domestic and trade policy challenges that have polarised public opinion in the United States.

According to Morning Consult, “The latest approval ratings are based on data collected from July 4 to 10, 2025. Ratings reflect a trailing seven-day simple moving average of views among adults in each country surveyed.”

BJP reacts on latest ratings

BJP’s IT cell head Amit Malviya shared the information on X and wrote, “Loved by over a billion Indians and respected by millions across the globe, PM Narendra Modi tops the Morning Consult Global Leader Approval Tracker once again — the highest-rated and most trusted leader worldwide. Strong leadership. Global respect. Bharat is in safe hands.”

This survey coincides with PM Modi completing 4,078th day as India’s Prime Minister, making him the second-longest continuously serving PM, surpassing Indira Gandhi’s 4,077-day record and trailing only Jawaharlal Nehru.
