A Hindu seer, 40, was found murdered at his own Ashram in Ayodhya’s Hanuman temple on Thursday, police said, adding that police have detained one of his disciples in the case.
Authorities are currently making efforts to locate another disciple who has been in hiding since the incident occurred within the Ram Janmabhoomi police station’s jurisdiction. The investigators have not yet revealed the motive behind the murder.

According to The Indian Express, Ayodhya’s Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Raj Karan Nayyar, who arrived at the scene with his team around 7 am, stated that the victim was stabbed with a sharp-edged weapon. The police have obtained footage showing one of the disciples turning off the CCTV camera in the ashram.
“We spotted a stab wound on his stomach. More details will be revealed once the post-mortem examination report is out,” he added.
The police have registered a murder case against the two accused, however, the names of the accused remain unknown as they are suspected to be minors.
