Two women passengers were offloaded from the Mumbai-bound SpiceJet flight at the Indira Gandhi International Airport and handed over to the CISF. This comes after they forcefully tried to enter the cockpit and forced the aircraft to return to the bay.
The incident took place on July 14 when the flight was taxiing for take-off. Despite repeated requests from almost everyone on board the plane, they didn’t return to their seats.
According to the data available on Flightradar24, the flight was scheduled to depart for Mumbai at 12:30 pm but was delayed by nearly seven hours because two women passengers started quarrelling and denied fastening their seatbelts. The flight landed in Mumbai at 9:05 pm after taking off at 7:21 pm from the Delhi Airport.
Passengers offloaded, handed to CISF
Spiceject, in a statement, has confirmed the incident. “On July 14, 2025, two unruly passengers were offloaded from SpiceJet flight SG 9282 operating from Delhi to Mumbai,” it read.
The statement added, “The two attempted to forcefully approach the cockpit and caused a disruption while the aircraft was taxiing.”
“Despite repeated requests by the cabin crew, fellow passengers, and the Captain, they refused to return to their seats. In the interest of the safety of all passengers and crew, the Captain decided to return the aircraft to the bay, and the passengers were offloaded. They were subsequently handed over to the CISF,” it further said.
Akasa Air plane hit by cargo truck
In a separate incident yesterday, a cargo truck hit a parked Akasa Air aircraft at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. According to the airline, the vehicle was operated by a third-party ground handler when it came in contact with the plane. Following the accident, the airline has not only thoroughly inspected the plane but has also initiated a probe into the incident.
The airline clarified that the aircraft was not in operation at the time of the incident. Importantly, there were no injuries to any employees or passengers, and airport operations remained unaffected.
