In a growing controversy over the alleged presence of animal fat in the famed Tirupati laddu, spiritual leader Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev has labelled the situation as “beyond disgusting.”
Speaking on the matter, he emphasised that temples should be managed by devotees rather than government administrations, stating, “Where there is no devotion, there shall be no sanctity.”

In a post on the social media platform X, Sadhguru remarked, “Devotees consuming beef tallow in the Temple prasadam is beyond disgusting. This is why Temples should be run by Devotees, not by government administrations. Where there is no Devotion, there shall be no sanctity. Time the Hindu Temples are run by devout Hindus, not by government administration.”
The controversy intensified following remarks by former Congress leader Acharya Pramod Krishnam, who described the issue as a “very dangerous conspiracy” against Sanatan Dharma.
On September 18, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu accused the current government, led by Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, of using animal fat and substandard ingredients in the preparation of Tirupati laddus. He claimed that the quality of ‘Annadanam’ (free meals) had deteriorated and that the sacred Tirumala laddu was being compromised by the use of animal fat instead of ghee.
However, YSRCP MP and former Chairman of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD), Y. V. Subba Reddy, has firmly denied these allegations, asserting that only pure cow ghee and organic products are used in the preparation of the prasadam.
In response to the ongoing uproar, the youth wing of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), staged a protest at Jagan Mohan Reddy’s residence on Sunday, demanding an apology for the alleged misuse of the sacred prasadam.
The controversy has ignited widespread outrage, prompting many to question the motives behind these allegations and call for strict action against those responsible.
