A taxi driver in Delhi strangled a woman, tied a rock to her body, and dumped it into a drain in an attempt to dispose of the evidence. The gruesome murder came to light when the woman’s body was found floating in the drain. The incident reportedly took place on March 12 in Delhi’s Chhawla area.
The accused, identified as Asif, along with another person, Zubair, who assisted him, was arrested by the police for the murder of Komal, a resident of Seemapuri’s Sundari Nagar. Police have also seized the vehicle used in the crime.
Police said that Asif and Komal had known each other for a long time. On the day of the murder, he picked her up from Seemapuri in his car. The two got into an argument, after which he strangled her to death with the help of Zubair. He then tied her body to a stone and threw it in a drain.
When Komal went missing, her family filed a complaint at the Seemapuri police station. However, after her body was discovered in the drain, Chhawla police registered a murder case and launched an investigation into the incident.
“On March 17, we received a call about a dead body found in a drain in Dwarka’s Chhawla area. Our team immediately reached the spot, retrieved the body, and sent it for forensic examination,” DCP Dwarka Ankit Singh told Times Now.
He added, “A prima facie murder case was registered. During our investigation, we discovered that a missing person’s report had been filed at Seemapuri police station on March 13.”
Once Komal’s body was identified, police launched a search for Asif, leading to his arrest. Another individual, Zubair, was also taken into custody in connection with the case.
“We have arrested two people, Asif and Zubair,” Singh further said.
