Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Monday became the fourth member of the AAP to be incarcerated in the national capital’s Tihar Jail, as political tension between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and its rival INDIA bloc ramps up days before the 2024 Lok Sabha election.
Five regular visitors, including his wife and children, permission to carry some books, two security personnel outside the ward number 3 of Tihar prison’s Jail number 2 — this is what Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who is an undertrial prisoner (UT) no 670, will be allowed in prison, Indian Express reported.
The Aam Aadmi Party supremo has been placed in Tihar’s jail no 2 till April 15. Kejriwal’s former deputy Manish Sisodia is lodged in jail no 1, former health minister Satyendar Jain in jail no 7 and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh in jail no 5.
Kejriwal was taken to jail on Monday afternoon after the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) extended custody finished. The ED cast the Delhi Chief Minister as the “kingpin” in the alleged scam, and told the court the AAP leader had given “evasive replies” and concealed information relevant to the investigation.

Jail authorities have also been asked to give Kejriwal three books – copies of the Bhagavad Gita and the Ramayana, and How Prime Ministers Decide, a book by journalist Neerja Chowdhury.
Kejriwal will be allowed to meet his wife, Sunita Kejriwal, during his stay in jail till April 15.

He will also get a supply of essential medicines and medical equipment, including those to monitor blood sugar levels. Kejriwal will also be given home-cooked food since he is on a special diet.
