The national capital was jolted by an earthquake on Sunday afternoon that shook the Delhi-NCR region. A 3.1 magnitude earthquake struck Faridabad and its neighboring cities.
According to the National Centre for Seismology, the epicentre of the earthquake was nine kilometres from Faridabad. The earthquake happened around 4:08 pm.
The national capital and its neighbouring region has witnessed an earthquake for the second time this month. Earlier this month, Delhi-NCR and other parts of North India witnessed powerful tremors of earthquake.
The strongest earthquake was recorded at 6.2 magnitude which created fear and rush among the residents of the city.

Different seismic zones categorize the country based on earthquake intensity and frequency. Delhi falls in zone IV, experiencing significant seismic activity with magnitudes ranging from 5 to 8.
Delhi witnessed a powerful earthquake on October 3, 2023 where it was jolted by two consecutive tremors.
The last earthquake that Delhi faced was also felt across other parts of the National Capital Region (NCR). Moreover, there reports that tremors were also felt in Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
