Following a reshuffle of the Union Cabinet on July 6, PM Narendra Modi, made a fresh list of ministers to be inducted into the Cabinet Committee of Parliamentary Affairs, where notable ministers like Smriti Irani, Rajiv Pratap Rudy and Sadananda Gowda have not found a place.
Irani, after moving out from the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) to the Ministry of Textiles, Gowda from being the law minister to minister of Statistics and Programme Implementation, have lost their places as special invitees to the the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs.
Rajiv Pratap Rudy, had been removed from his portfolio as MoS for Parliamentary Affairs and hence has not been given a special invite.
Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar, is present in the cabinet committees on political affairs, economic affairs and accommodation.
Prakash Javadekar, earlier MoS for environment and now as HRD minister has remained as a part of the committee.
Irani’s current portfolio, is of Textile Minister, a post which wasn’t part of any cabinet committee before.
Ravi Shankar Prasad who repaced Gowda as Law Minister has found a place in the committee on parliamentary affairs.
Najma Heptulla, the Minority Affairs Minister who had resigned from the Union Cabinet earlier this week, is no more a member of the panel.
Jitendra Singh, MoS for Development of North Eastern Region, Prime Minister Office, Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Department of Atomic Energy and Department of Space, has been made a special invitee to the committee.
PM Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh, are the only members of the Appointments Committee of Cabinet.
