The son of a former corporator and Sharad Pawar faction of the NCP’s leader, Bandu Gaikwad, allegedly rammed a speeding SUV into a poultry tempo, injuring two people, in Pune on Tuesday.
The leader’s son, Saurabh Gaikwad, was driving the SUV on the wrong side of the road when the accident occurred at Z Corner on Manjari-Mundhwa Road in Pune at around 5 am. The car collided head-on with the poultry tempo which was coming from the opposite direction.
CCTV footage of the accident showed that after the crash, some of the chickens were thrust onto the road from inside the vehicle by the jolt of the collision.
Saurabh Gaikwad was also injured in the accident, ANI reported.

All the three injured, including the tempo driver and the cleaner, were undergoing treatment at a hospital.
Following the incident, police have registered a case against Saurabh Gaikwad under sections 281, 125 (A), and 125 (B) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and relevant sections 184 and 134 (a) and (b) of the Motor Vehicle Act at Hadapsar police station in Pune.
This incident comes less than two months after a drunk teen rammed his speeding Porsche into a two-wheeler and killed two techies. The 17-year-old minor accused was recently granted bail by the Bombay High Court.
In another incident, a woman was killed after a luxury car crashed into the bike she was riding with her husband in the Worli area of Mumbai. The driver, son of a leader in the Eknath Shinde’s faction of Shiv Sena, dragged the woman on his car’s bonnet and later fled the scene. The husband of the deceased woman also received injuries in the accident.
After absconding for three days, the accused was arrested by the Mumbai Police.
