Amid the ongoing Lok Sabha elections, the NTR district police on Wednesday unearthed a huge cash haul and seized Rs 8 crore in cash at the Garikapadu check post in Andhra Pradesh.

The money was discovered in a pipe-loaded lorry in a separate cabin during routine checking. Two people have also been detained by the district police.

The money was reportedly being transported from Hyderabad to Guntur, ANI reported.

“We will hand over this amount to the district scrutiny teams, and further action will be taken by the EC officials and flying squad team,” Chandra Shekhar, Jaggaiahpet Circle Inspector, told ANI.

All 25 seats in Andhra Pradesh are going to polls during the fourth phase of the Lok Sabha elections on May 13. The counting of votes will take place on June 4.
