The Delhi Police has reached out to the Telegram messaging app, seeking information on the channel ‘Justice League India’ in connection with a blast reported near a school in Prashant Vihar, Rohini. The blast, which occurred on October 20, was accompanied by a post on the channel that shared CCTV footage of the incident along with a detailed write-up.

The Telegram post claimed that the blast near CRPF School in Rohini was a retaliation for the alleged targeting of pro-Khalistan separatists by Indian agents. The post, which surfaced late Sunday, hinted at the possible involvement of pro-Khalistani elements in the explosion.

Delhi Police has written to Telegram, seeking details about the creator of the “Justice League India” group, which shared CCTV footage of the blast with a “Khalistan Zindabad” watermark. A police source confirmed the request for information.

The Telegram post by “Justice League India” stated, “If Indian coward agency and their master think they can hire filthy goons to target our members to silence our voice, then they live in a fool’s world… #KhalistanZindabad #JLI.”

A team from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) visited the blast site on Monday morning as investigations continue.

What did the probe reveal?

In an official statement, the police revealed that no response has yet been received from Telegram, but they are closely monitoring other social media platforms for clues. The Special Cell and other investigating agencies are continuing their probe into the blast.

The incident was reported early in the morning on October 20, when a PCR call alerted the police about a loud explosion near the CRPF School in Rohini’s Sector 14. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found the school’s wall damaged, with broken glass in nearby shops and a car. Despite the intensity of the blast, there were no injuries reported. A foul smell lingered at the site, raising questions about the nature of the explosion. Authorities have not yet determined what caused the blast.

CCTV footage shows suspect

The Delhi Police has seized all CCTV DVRs from nearby areas and the front market as part of its investigation into the blast near CRPF School in Rohini, sources confirmed. Footage reveals a suspect wearing a white T-shirt at the scene the night before the explosion, according to police sources.

Preliminary findings indicate that the explosive was planted inside a polythene bag and buried in a small pit, which was later covered with garbage to conceal it. The explosion occurred on Sunday morning, causing damage to nearby vehicles and properties, though no injuries were reported.

The Delhi Police has registered an FIR under Section 4 of the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, Section 3 of the Indian Explosives Act, and other relevant sections to continue the investigation. The FIR notes significant damage to the school’s boundary wall, nearby shop windows, and signboards.

A white powder was found near the blast site, prompting an immediate response from senior officers and specialised teams, including SWAT, NDRF, NSG, and forensic experts.

In the aftermath, Delhi has been placed on high alert, with increased security in markets ahead of Diwali. The school primarily serves children of CRPF and paramilitary families.

AAP, BJP indulge in blame game

As the investigation unfolds, the event has sparked political controversy. The BJP criticised the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) for allegedly exploiting the sensitive situation for political gain. Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva called out AAP leaders for “playing dirty politics” over the Rohini blast incident.

Sachdeva also commended the Delhi Police for its impressive track record in crime detection and expressed confidence that they would swiftly resolve the case. “The Delhi Police has solved nearly all major crimes in recent times, and I am confident they will soon identify the culprits behind this blast,” he said. He urged political parties to await the police’s findings rather than making premature statements. Additionally, Sachdeva appealed for enhanced security measures in marketplaces ahead of the festive season.

With the investigation ongoing, the Delhi Police remains focused on gathering more information to determine the cause and responsible parties behind the Rohini blast.
