On Monday, JD Vance’s children descended the steps of their India-bound airplane in style, wearing ethnic wear. The US vice president arrived in New Delhi for the four-day diplomatic trip with his family: Indian-origin wife Usha Vance, and three kids Ewan, Vivek and Mirabel.

Videos of the Vance kids’ arrival at Delhi’s Palam Air Force Station around 9:30 am today have since gone viral on social media. The young trio commanded attention with their embrace of traditional Indian outfits, as Mirabel sported a modified version of an anarkali suit, while her brothers Ewan and Vivek wore kurta pyjama.

Meet JD Vance’s kids

JD Vance’s first visit to India since he assumed his post as the vice president earlier this year has particularly put the spotlight on his children, who have largely evaded cameras presumably due to privacy reasons. Although little is known about them, here’s what we could gather:

Ewan is JD Vance and Usha‘s first child. Their eldest son was born in June 2017 and will turn 8 this year.

The couple welcomed their second child, son Vivek, in February 2000. Last year, the young boy’s fourth birthday was celebrated on the Senate floor, according to The Hill. Vivek, himself, wasn’t present at the official gathering, but his dad took the celebratory moment during a debate about an aid package to Ukraine to share that he missed his son’s big birthday moment.

“But I want you to know that Daddy loves you very much,” he said. The record caught him reading aloud Dr Seuss’ children’s book “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!,” as he sent Vivek a message in case he was watching it at home. The former Ohio senator also added his son’s name in the final verse of the reading.

Vivek also finds a mention in an IG post Vance shared in October 2024. In a heartfelt snap, the father-son duo is seen fishing in the Kalamazoo River in Michigan. Another capture shows him handing a fish to his young boy. “Great day fishing the Kalamazoo River in Saugatuck with my four year old son Vivek this morning. We always enjoy our visits to Michigan, be back soon!” the VP wrote.

Vance and Usha’s third child, daughter Mirabel, blessed them with her birth in December 2021. A now-deleted Instagram post on the “Hillbilly Elegy” author’s profile featured a hospital photo that showed him and his wife holding the newborn girl, according to People.

“We were blessed with an early Christmas present this year. Everyone please meet Mirabel Rose Vance, our first girl. Mama and baby both doing great, and we’re feeling very grateful this Christmas season,” he captioned the post.

JD Vance’s India trip, beginning on April 21, concludes on April 24, as he is scheduled to depart from the country early morning that day. Today, he is poised to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the PM’s official residence at 6:30 pm. During his four-day sojourn, the vice president and his family are expected to visit the Swaminarayan Akshardham Temple in New Delhi, Jaipur’s Amer Fort, Jantar Mantar, City Palace and Hawa Mahal, and the timeless Taj Mahal in Agra among other sites and local cultural markets.
