Days ahead of the ‘pran prathistha’ (consecration) ceremony in Ayodhya’s Ram Mandir, Uttar Pradesh’s Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has detained three “suspicious” men on Thursday evening, reports The Indian Express.

UP Police Special Director General (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said that the suspects are being interrogated.

He added that details will come out after they are being questioned, adding that till now their connection with any terrorist organisation has not come to the fore.

“As part of the checking campaign being conducted on the instructions of the state government and police headquarters, three suspicious persons have been detained by UP-ATS from Ayodhya district,” he said, as quoted by IE.

Heavy security arrangements have been made for the January 22 event, which will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. About 10,000 CCTV cameras have been installed in the temple town.

The Centre has declared a half-day holiday till 2.30 PM on January 22 due to the “overwhelming sentiment of the employees and requests from them”.
