Pune Local Body Election Results 2025 LIVE: Pune’s local body elections cover both the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and nearby civic bodies. The PMC has 41 wards, and it also includes nearby bodies such as Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation with 32 wards for its council elections.

The elections for these municipal councils and panchayats in Pune were held on 2 December 2025. As for voting, Maharashtra recorded about 67.63% turnout in the first phase of local body polls, reflecting active participation across districts including Pune.
Nearly one crore voters were eligible to cast their vote in this first round of the multi-tier rural and urban local body elections. These polls, as directed by the Supreme Court, must be completed by January 31, 2026.

Maharashtra local body elections were held for 288 municipal councils and nagar panchayats. The main contest in this election is between the Mahayuti and the Maha Vikas Aghadi.
The election process was conducted using electronic voting machines (EVMs). It should be noted that elections in 23 local bodies were postponed, where elections were held on December 20.

Of the 17 local self-government bodies, the NCP Ajit Pawar faction won councils in Lonavala, Daund, Indapur, Jejuri, Baramati, Phursungi, Wadgaon Maval and Malegaon. The party secured the council president’s post in 10 of the 17 bodies.
The Shiv Sena won the municipal councils of Chakan, Manchar, Rajgurunagar and Junnar, while the BJP emerged victorious in Saswad and Alandi.
Reacting to the results, NCP national president Ajit Pawar said the mandate reflected support for development and stability. “The mandate that the NCP has received in the local self-government body polls is a victory for development, stability and people-centric politics. We will live up to the trust voters have shown in us through our work,” he said.

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Sunday hailed the performance of the ruling Mahayuti alliance in the local body elections, saying the results indicated continued public support for the alliance in upcoming municipal polls.
Speaking to reporters after the declaration of results, Shinde congratulated voters and party workers, noting that the Mahayuti had earlier succeeded in the Lok Sabha, Legislative Assembly and municipal corporation elections. “There are clear indications that the Mahayuti alliance will also be successful in the forthcoming municipal elections,” he said.
Shinde said the Bharatiya Janata Party had secured a “century” of wins, while the Shiv Sena had achieved a “half-century” in the local polls. He rejected claims that the Shiv Sena’s influence was limited to Thane, saying the party’s presence had expanded across Maharashtra, “from Chandrapur to Bandra”.
He thanked elected representatives, ministers, MLAs and party workers for their efforts and congratulated Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on the BJP’s performance. Shinde said the Shiv Sena had emerged as the second-largest party in the state and claimed the alliance’s strike rate matched that seen in recent assembly and parliamentary elections.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday said the Mahayuti's “success” in the municipal council and nagar panchayat polls was a team effort of the BJP organisation and the government.
“It is a team effort -- organisation and government. We fought the polls on the development plank. I led the campaign on a positive development agenda, and never did I even once criticise any political leader or party,” he said.
Fadnavis said he sought votes on the development agenda, their work so far and their blueprint for the future.
Fadnavis said that the BJP has once again emerged as the “single-largest” party in an election.
