A woman was forcibly removed from a flight at Pune’s Lohegaon airport on Saturday (August 17) morning after she allegedly assaulted two co-passengers and bit CISF constable during the boarding process.
The incident unfolded around 7:45 am as passengers were boarding a private airline flight bound for Delhi. The woman reportedly began her violent outburst by attacking a brother and sister who were seated in their allotted seats, according to multiple media reports.
CISF constables intervene
The altercation quickly escalated, prompting crew members to call for assistance. Two CISF constables, Priyanka Reddy and Sonika Pal, were dispatched to the scene to manage the situation.
However, the arrival of the constables appeared to escalate the woman’s aggression. She reportedly slapped and bit Constable Priyanka Reddy in her rage.
Despite their efforts to control the situation, the constables were eventually able to restrain the woman and escort her and her husband off the aircraft. The woman was handed over to the airport police, who registered a case against her.
Women released with notice, investigation on
The Vimantal police have charged the woman, a resident of Wakad, with causing a disturbance in government duties under Sections 132, 121(1), and 351(2)(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
Senior Inspector Ajay Sankeshwari stated that the woman was released with a notice to comply with the ongoing investigation. She has not been arrested yet. He noted that statements from airline staff and CISF personnel had been collected, while statements from the assaulted co-passengers were scheduled to be recorded later.
The woman, identified as a homemaker, and her husband, a software engineer, were traveling to Delhi to attend a funeral.
