President Droupadi Murmu will undertake a sojourn at Rashtrapati Nilayam, one of the Presidential Retreats, from December 17 to 21. Located in Bolarum, Hyderabad, the Rashtrapati Nilayam is one of the two presidential retreats, with the other being in Shimla. The building, a symbol of India’s unity and diverse cultures, serves as a place for the President to conduct official duties while residing there at least once a year.

Ahead of the President’s visit, Telangana Chief Secretary Santhi Kumari convened a meeting with relevant officials to ensure smooth arrangements. The Chief Secretary emphasized the need for close coordination between various departments to prepare for the visit.

One of the key directives involved the forest department, which was instructed to deploy snake catchers at the Rashtrapati Nilayam. A team of snake catchers will be stationed round the clock at the premises to ensure safety. Additionally, the forest department has been tasked with catching snakes well in advance of the President’s arrival.

In order to address other potential challenges, the Chief Secretary also called for special teams to handle the monkey menace around the Nilayam. These teams will work in close coordination with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC). The GHMC has been directed to ensure that bee-catching operations are carried out before the President’s visit to avoid any disruptions.

Further instructions were given to various departments, including health, municipal administration, and the police, to ensure proper arrangements for the stay and security of the President.

Rashtrapati Nilayam, originally constructed in 1860, spans over 90 acres and features 11 rooms, a dining hall, cinema hall, and morning room, among other amenities. The building was handed over to the President’s Secretariat after India gained independence and has since served as one of the key official residences for the country’s President.
