Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday virtually issued sanction letters to 32,000 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) and released the first installment of Rs 32 crore for house construction.

Modi also virtually handed over keys to 46,000 PMAY-G beneficiaries nationwide. The initiative is part of the government’s commitment to providing housing for all. Modi’s remarks highlighted the scheme’s role in boosting self-confidence and creating jobs in Jharkhand and other regions.

“In line with his commitment to housing for all, the PM distributed sanction letters to 32,000 Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana- Gramin (PMAY-G) beneficiaries from Jharkhand. He released the first instalment of assistance to the beneficiaries. The prime minister also participated in the ‘Griha Pravesh’ celebrations of 46,000 beneficiaries,” a statement from the Prime Minister’s Office said.

The Central government has approved 1,13,400 houses under PMAY-G for Jharkhand. Modi asserted that along with housing, the scheme provides essential facilities such as toilets, drinking water, electricity, and gas connections.

He noted the importance of the PM-Janman scheme, which aims to assist tribal communities by improving access to housing, roads, electricity, and education. Modi expressed regret for not being able to attend the event in person due to adverse weather conditions but assured that significant progress has been made since 2014 in empowering marginalized communities.

Modi is on a three-day tour of Jharkhand, Gujarat, and Odisha, where he plans to lay the foundation stones and inaugurate projects worth over Rs 12,460 crore.
