PM Narendra Modi Jammu Visit, BJP Election Campaign: Ahead of Assembly Elections in Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Jammu on September 14 to campaign for his party. During the visit, Modi is likely to address and highlight the key regional issues as the BJP is intensifying efforts to solidify its position in the region ahead of the elections.
This will mark the third high-profile visit to Jammu and Kashmir, following those of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah, both of whom have been involved in election-related activities. Recently, Amit Shah visited the union territory on Friday and Saturday, during which he unveiled the BJP’s election manifesto.
During Shah’s two-day visit, the BJP outlined 25 promises, with the primary focus on eliminating terrorism and separatism in the region. Other significant pledges include enhancing women’s financial security, boosting economic growth, and supporting local businesses. The party also vowed to triple the pensions for the elderly, widows, and disabled individuals, raising them from Rs 1,000 to Rs 3,000, and to expand healthcare coverage under the Ayushman Bharat Sehat Scheme, increasing it by Rs 2 lakhs from the current Rs 5 lakhs.
As Shah unveiled the party’s “Sankalp Patra,” he reiterated, “Article 370 is a chapter of the past and will not return. Both the country and the region respect its abrogation.”
The Assembly elections, the first since the revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s special status, will take place in three phases on September 18, 25, and October 1.
