Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that the accomplishments of his government at the Centre over the past decade serve as a “trailer” for what lies ahead.
Addressing a rally in Rajasthan’s Churu, PM Modi likened the developments under his leadership to an appetizer preceding the main course of progress for the nation.
“I want to tell you that all we’ve done (developments work) till now, is just a trailer. These days, when we go to big hotels to eat food, they first bring a few appetizers…so what Modi has done (till now) is an appetizer and the main course is yet to come. We have to take the country forward… In the last 10 years, you have seen the country change. Before that, the country was in a very bad condition,” the PM said.
Campaigning for Devendra Jhajharia, a paralympic gold medalist and BJP candidate for the Churu Lok Sabha seat, PM Modi took a swipe at the opposition Congress, attributing the country’s economic woes to their alleged scams and loot.
“Due to the big scams and loot of Congress, the economy had collapsed and India’s reputation in the world was declining… Today the whole country is working towards the mission of ‘Viksit Bharat’. In this ‘Viksit Bharat’ mission, Rajasthan has a big role. When Rajasthan becomes developed, the whole nation will become developed,” Modi said.
Directing criticism towards Congress, which recently unveiled its manifesto for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, PM Modi said, “BJP definitely does what it says. Unlike other parties, BJP does not just release a manifesto, we come up with ‘Sankalp Patra’. Most of the resolutions we mentioned in 2019’s Sankalp Patra have been fulfilled.”

The Congress manifesto, announced by party leaders including Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, pledges to address unemployment and uphold constitutional values, promising investigations into controversial BJP-initiated schemes, such as demonetisation and electoral bonds, and ensure accountability for any illicit gains.
Rajasthan is scheduled to conduct its elections in two phases on April 19 and April 26. The first phase will cover polling for 12 Lok Sabha seats, including constituencies such as Ganganagar, Bikaner, and Jaipur Rural, while the second phase will encompass the remaining 13 seats, including Tonk-Sawai Madhopur, Ajmer, and Jodhpur.
The general elections for all 543 Lok Sabha seats will unfold across seven phases beginning April 19, with approximately 97 crore eligible voters. Vote counting is slated for June 4.
