Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Haryana has decided to ensure a hat-trick victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming state assembly elections, slated for October 5.
In his first address ahead of the elections in Kurukshetra, Modi took aim at the Congress, accusing it of a history of neglect and mismanagement in Haryana. He contrasted this with the achievements of his own government, emphasizing development initiatives amounting to nearly Rs 15 lakh-crore, undertaken within just the first 100 days of the new NDA government.
“We have witnessed the Congress era where development funds were restricted to a single district,” Modi stated, assuring the crowd that the BJP had ensured equitable progress across Haryana. He also criticized Congress for its “politics of lies and anarchy,” suggesting the party’s current approach resembled “urban Naxalism.”
Touching on issues affecting farmers, Modi pointed out Congress’ failures, especially in Karnataka and Telangana, where, he said, promises regarding the Minimum Support Price (MSP) were not fulfilled. He asked pointedly, “Did any farmer receive money directly into their accounts during Congress rule?”
The prime minister also expressed solidarity with the people of Congress-ruled Himachal Pradesh, accusing its government of failing to manage the state’s economy and inflation.
Modi praised Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini for his dedicated leadership, highlighting Haryana’s rise as a top state in terms of investments and revenue. He closed his address with confidence, stating that the public’s enthusiasm during the Lok Sabha elections that handed him a third term at the Centre will propel the BJP to another victory in Haryana.
Polling for all 90 assembly seats in the state will take place on October 5, with the results set to be announced on October 8.
