Prime Minister Narendra Modi shared the biggest allegation that he faced during his political career, where he was accused of owning 250 pairs of clothes. In an interview with PTI, Modi recounted that this claim was made by Congress leader and former Gujarat chief minister Amarsinh Chaudhary.

“I asked the people whether they wanted a chief minister who stole Rs 250 crore or one who had 250 pairs of clothes,” Modi countered the allegation in a public meeting.

The crowd responded in favour of a chief minister with 250 pairs of clothes. This response, according to Modi, showed that the opposition lacked the courage to pursue further accusations.

Reflecting on the incident from his time as Gujarat’s chief minister, Modi said he acknowledged Chaudhary’s claims at the public meeting but pointed out the exaggeration. “I said that I accept this accusation, but either the zero (in 250) is wrong, or the number two is wrong. Still, I accept the accusation,” Modi recalled.

Recently, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi criticized Modi’s fashion sense, highlighting the Prime Minister’s expensive attire despite his official salary of Rs 1.6 lakh per month.
