Police reported that a provincial armed constabulary (PAC) commando sustained injuries on his chest in an incident of “accidental firing” while cleaning his weapon at his post within the Ram Janmabhoomi complex on Tuesday evening.
Platoon commander Ram Prasad (50) was promptly transported to Ayodhya Medical College, and due to the seriousness of his condition, he was later referred to KGMU Lucknow for further treatment, doctors confirmed. The commando has been stationed at the Ram Janmabhoomi complex in Ayodhya for approximately six months, fulfilling security duties.
Dr. Vinod Kumar Arya, emergency in-charge of the medical college in Ayodhya, stated that the bullet struck Ram Prasad on the left side of his chest. Prasad hails from Achalpur village in Amethi district.
Chaos in the Ram temple complex
The incident resulted in chaos at the temple complex. The gunshot sound created panic among people present at the Ram Temple. The injured jawan was immediately rushed to Divisional Hospital where he was referred to Lucknow Trauma Center with life support system due to his critical condition.
