Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded Indian military forces for their handling of Operation Sindoor during an address on Monday — contending that New Delhi had “drawn a new red line”. He also insisted that India would no longer tolerate “nuclear blackmail” and promised that terrorist attacks against the country would face a “befitting reply on our terms”.

“The three armies of India- Air Force, Navy, and Army, BSF and military forces are on alert. After the surgical strike and air strike, Operation Sindoor is India’s policy against terrorism. Operation Sindoor has drawn a new line against terrorism,” he said.

Modi also insisted that India would deliver a “resounding response” to any terror attack — “on our terms, in our way”. He promised that India would not differentiate between a government that harboured terrorists and the attackers themselves.

“India will not tolerate any kind of nuclear blackmail. Even if terror camps hide behind nuclear threats, India will strike with precision and decisiveness…During Operation Sindoor, the world saw Pakistan’s ugly truth once again—how senior Pakistani military officers rushed to bid farewell to slain terrorists. This is strong evidence of state-sponsored terrorism. We will continue to take decisive steps to protect India and our citizens from every threat,” he said.

The Prime Minister reiterated that New Delhi had only “paused” its counteroffensive against Pakistani terrorist and military establishments and continued to evaluate the situation.

“After being badly defeated, on the afternoon of May 10, the Pakistani army contacted our DGMO. By then, we had already destroyed a large part of the terrorist infrastructure, eliminated many terrorists, and turned their terror nests in Pakistan into ruins. When Pakistan pleaded and said it would refrain from further terrorist and military provocations, India took this into consideration,” he added.
