A teenage worker and the owner of a daycare centre in Noida’s Sector 137 have been arrested after parents accused the worker of assaulting and biting their 15-month-old daughter.
CCTV footage from the daycare went viral on social media, showing the attendant repeatedly slapping, hitting and throwing the crying toddler on the floor. In the 10-minute-28-second clip, the attendant is seen shutting the door of a room, picking up a green plastic bat with her foot, and hitting the toddler on the head multiple times. She also bangs the child’s head against the wall and throws her on the floor.

The parents said they noticed marks on their daughter’s body and immediately took her to a doctor. The child’s mother told police in her August 7 complaint that her daughter attended the daycare for two hours daily.
On August 4, when she picked her up, the toddler was crying. “I was changing her clothes when I saw bite marks on both her thighs. I rushed her to the doctor, who said it was a bite mark,” she said in her complaint.
Threats and misbehaviour alleged
The mother said she went to the daycare to check the CCTV footage. “I saw the attendant slapping my child, throwing her on the floor and hitting her with a plastic bat. It was the attendant who bit her on her thighs,” she alleged. She also claimed the daycare owner did nothing despite hearing her daughter’s frantic cries.
The complaint further stated that when the mother confronted the owner and the attendant, they misbehaved with her and issued threats.
Police action
Noida Police registered an FIR under sections 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace) of the BNS.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Vir Kumar told The Indian Express, “They were arrested, but since it was a bailable offence, they filed a bond. The girl who was assaulting the child was a minor and had joined the daycare only 10 days earlier.”
“The toddler underwent a medical examination to assess her injuries,” he added.
